Sunset over Holy Island, from Ardrossan
  Sailing Routes

Tequendama is based at Clyde Marina, Ardrossan, to the west of Glasgow, easily accessible by train or road from Glasgow or Prestwick airport. Ardrossan is perfectly placed for quick passages to anywhere in the Firth of Clyde, a magnificent cruising area with six or seven marinas and wonderful sailing, sheltered by the off lying islands of Arran, Bute and the Cumbraes.

A weekend charter might include visits to Rothesay, the beautiful Kyles of Bute, East Loch Tarbert on Loch Fyne, and Lamlash or Lochranza (with its distillery) on the Isle of Arran. For the more adventurous, a trip right up Loch Fyne to Inverary and the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar is a well worth the effort. For the golfers, Troon has its own marina, while hill climbers need go no further than Arran for access to Goatfell, towering above the famous Brodick Castle, run by the National Trust.

For part of the summer season Tequendama is based in Loch Melfort, a few miles south of Oban, further up the west coast. This gives more experienced sailors the opportunity to explore that stunning part of the coast. While a weekend trip is perfectly feasible, a longer cruise in this area is to be recommended.

Evening on Erraid, Isle of Mull

There are so many wonderful places to go, the choice can be bewildering. Perhaps a run through the Sound of Luing with the tide, and up the Sound of Mull to Tobermory. Further on round Mull, past Coll and Tiree to the Treshnish Isles, Staffa (with Fingal’s Cave) and the Isle of Iona. These are just two of a wide range of sailing routes.

For a longer trip, Rum, Eigg and the Isle of Skye beckon, or even across the Minch to magical Barra in the Outer Hebrides.

Or if the tide runs south, slip down the Sound of Jura to Loch Sween and Tayvallich, to Craighouse on Jura, then up the Sound of Islay past Port Askaig, to Colonsay and perhaps a look into the fearsome Sound of Corrywreckan.

The names alone conjure a reality that exceeds the imagination. Tequendama can take you to all these places.
