Arran from above Ardrossan

Tequendama is a 37ft, seven-berth quality yacht. She was hand-built by Fantasi Yachts near Lysekil in western Sweden in 1984. She has excellent sea-keeping qualities, and she is comfortable, fast and safe.

Tequendama has a long keel. This provides wonderful sea-keeping qualities and an easy motion at sea, with no slamming. Her qualities are most obvious when the barometer is dropping, taking bad weather in her stride and giving a great sense of confidence.

Tips on handling a long keel boat are offered at handover. It is pretty straightforward, rarely if ever causing problems, and the benefits far outweigh any other concerns.

The all teak interior is in pristine condition, her gear is all of top quality, and subject to constant upgrading. Bunks and bunk cushions are generous and well upholstered, and the galley is comprehensively equipped.

Effective modern central heating and other creature comforts complement everything necessary for safe navigation. Apart from being a fine sailing yacht, her accommodation is designed for comfort, with a welcoming sense of warmth, light and space.

Accommodation: Tequendama has seven generous-sized berths: a large twin in the Forepeak, with an infill to make a double; a double in the saloon to port; a single in saloon to Starboard; and two berths aft, with access from the saloon. Each cabin is heated by oil-fired central-heating.

The head is equipped with a wash-hand basin and shower unit. The galley area is furnished to similarly high standards with a gimballed 2-burner gas cooker, an oven, refigerator, and a double sink. Ample storage is provided througout the yacht, including both wet and dry hanging space.

Tequendama was designed by her builder, Knut Jacobsson. He founded the family firm which continues to this day to build a very few high quality yachts each year. Fantasi Yachts can be found right in the heart of the area where all the famous Swedish yacht builders are situated. Hallberg-Rassy, Sweden Yachts, Malo, Najad, are all close neighbours, on or around the island of Orust in the western Swedish archipelago.

Although a small firm in comparison with these other marques, the Jacobssons of Fantasi Yachts are among the very best in design and quality.
